Crack open and feel juicy in this raspberry, purple, and pink, painted art hat upcycled from everyday kitchen trash. Pink flowers made from egg carton cups, crown the top and encircle the base of a green and pink berry carton. The whimsically painted fascinator is fixed at a dramatic angle on a headband assuring a coiffed crowning, even without a mirror, and easy removal when getting into your car.

  • The pinecone-like stack and encircling painted egg carton flowers, the berry carton base, and the toilet paper roll used to fix this whimsical painted fascinator to the headband are all made of repurposed pulped paper... trash that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill.  All are painted with acrylic or enamel paints, are lacquered, and are water-resistant.* Both the flowers and the base have metallic copper highlights and glossy or metallic paint centers. The interior of the berry carton is aqua.

The painted pink headband is new.

    Care:

Hold both sides of the headband to put on and take off. When holding otherwise, it is best to hold it by the berry carton rather than the headband.*

While this hat is lacquered and water-resistant, it is not necessarily waterproof. Remove and cover it if caught in the rain or when near misters. If it does get wet, gently shake off water droplets, pat with a tea towel, and set it in the sunshine or in front of a fan to dry.

    Styling Ideas:

Looks great alone or over a colorful or powdered wig or a feathered cap

Keep the silly look simple with a solid or colorful dress, or pantsuit

For more dramatic costume occasions, pair it up with one of my upcycled festival skirts or a piece of upcycled jewelry
