Crack open and up, wearing this purple and raspberry painted hat upcycled from kitchen trash. A flower bouquet made from egg carton cups, crowns a berry carton trimmed in fuzz and painted to look as if it's dripping with egg whites. A wide satin headband makes the whimsical fascinator easy to remove when getting in your car. It is fixed at a dramatic angle so a perfectly coiffed crowning is assured, even without the aid of a mirror.

  • The painted egg carton flowers and leaves, the berry carton base, and the toilet paper roll, that attaches this whimsical painted fascinator to the wide navy blue headband. are all made of repurposed pulped paper... trash that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill.  All are painted with acrylic or enamel paints, are lacquered, and are water-resistant.* The flowers are layered with various combinations of purple, violet, and raspberry paint. They have metallic copper highlights and glossy or metallic paint centers. The leaves are neon chartreuse green. The base is trimmed with blue, gold, and purple fuzz, and is painted raspberry with white paint drips that look like egg whites. The interior is aqua.

    The headband is new.

    Care:

Hold both sides of the headband to put on and take off. When holding otherwise, it is best to hold it by the berry carton rather than the headband.*

While this hat is lacquered and water-resistant, it is not necessarily waterproof. Remove and cover it if caught in the rain or when near misters. If it does get wet, gently shake off water droplets, pat with a tea towel, and set it in the sunshine or in front of a fan to dry.

    Styling Ideas:

Looks great alone or over a colorful wig or a feathered cap

Keep the silly look simple with a white, purple or navy cocktail dress or pantsuit.

For more dramatic occasions, pair it up with one of my upcycled festival skirts or a piece of upcycled jewelry
